THE PERCEIVED EFFECT OF WORK-RELATED STRESSORS ON LECTURES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA

Abstract

The present study examined the perceived effects of work-related stressors on lecturers at the University of Ghana. Four hundred and thirty two lecturers were recruited from Legon and Korle- Bu campuses of the University of Ghana. They administered questionnaires examining perceived stress. The results revealed that the lecturers reported moderate perceived signs of stress. The most commonly reported signs were psychological and social, whilst the least reported signs were work output and physical. There were no gender differences. Lecturers in School of Administration reported the most perceived stress signs, whilst those in Science Faculty perceived the least. Implications of findings are discussed.
