Journal Policies - Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statements

The journal is dedicated to maintaining high standards of research ethics in the contents accepted and published.

The journal encourages all stakeholders to adhere to the guidelines and principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure research integrity. www.publicationethics.org

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. This Journal does not charge processing/publication fees.

 

Peer Review Process

Two reviewers (blind) per paper.

Maximum of 12 weeks for review process.

Decision taken by a panel of 3 editors.

Final revisions done by authors. Proof reading is carried out before the manuscript is sent back to the author.

Reviewers

The Journal strives to work with high class scholars in the field of geography and related sciences to ensure the publication quality research articles, and to enhance scholarly communication in the field.

The Editorial Board encourages all reviewers:

  • to uphold high ethical standards in the conduct of duties
  • to treat all correspondence with the journal with strict confidentiality
  • to submit their reports within the stipulated period or in default, contact the Editor for extension
  • to handle assigned manuscripts with utmost confidentiality
  • to disclose situations of conflict of interest and to request to recuse themselves.

 

Author Consent

All authors must consent to the submitted manuscript. The journal assumes that the corresponding author acts on behalf of and with the permission of all co-authors. All authors are expected to have played a role in the writing of the paper.

Plagiarism

To uphold research integrity, the Journal pays critical attention to plagiarism and all forms of research dishonesty. All submissions found to have plagiarized or breached copyright and ownership guidelines will be rejected. Authors are encouraged to ensure that their manuscripts are devoid of academic/research dishonesty. All sources consulted in completing the paper must be duly acknowledged (using the APA Reference Style). The journal may adopt the use of plagiarism software to verify the content of all submitted manuscripts.

Ethical Clearance

Authors are encouraged to ensure that they seek the necessary ethical clearance before submitting their paper for review. When in doubt, the Journal may demand the submission of a signed proof of clearance from a responsible authority.

Defamation and Confidentiality

The Journal will reject papers found to contain defamatory statements about its study subjects, personalities, groups or institutions. Authors are encouraged to ensure the confidentiality of their subjects.

 

Concurrent Submission and Withdrawal of Manuscript

The Journal will not accept articles that have already been submitted to another journal for consideration. Authors intending to submit their article elsewhere, must first write to formally withdraw their manuscripts. The Ghana Journal of Geography reserves the right to refuse a withdrawal application if substantial review work has been carried out on the manuscript or after reviewer comments have been sent to the author(s) awaiting corrections and resubmission
